WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

Anatomy of a webpage: Best Practices of web archiving

Web archiving is the process of collecting and preserving websites and web pages to ensure their long-term accessibility. Although the web has existed for over three decades, the technologies and methods behind it continue to evolve, presenting ongoing challenges. This workshop starts by exploring the history and challenges of web archiving beginning with the anatomy of a web page and leading up to the WACZ file, a format used for long-term preservation. You'll be introduced to established best practices and widely accepted standards in the web archiving community, along with tips, tricks, and to dos for archiving the web.

"Michigan Archival Association" is a 501(c)6 non-profit organization.
